I guess this email went out to state employees of Arkansas. Not that I don’t understand Lee’s appeal- he’s like good old Thomas Jefferson, a problematic historical figure that is difficult to pigeonhole; he embodies a mythical era in American history, one that is bafflingly associated with innocence and virtue. But this is really offensive.
